Business analysis: understanding what is really needed.
In organizations I often see that a solution is sought right away, while it isn't yet quite clear where the problem lies. As a result, systems, processes or ways of working emerge that don't fit what users need or what the organization wants to achieve.
As a business analyst I make complex issues clear. I bring together wishes, needs, processes and interests and translate them into solutions that are feasible and future-proof. I work at the place where business, users and IT come together.
Does this sound familiar?
- Is something already being built or chosen, while nobody knows exactly what the problem is?
- Does a system or way of working not fit what users really need?
- Is everyone pulling in a different direction, with their own wishes and interests?
Then I start by listening and sharpening the issue, before anything is built or chosen.
Where I can help
Identifying needs and requirements
I talk to the people who do the work and find out what they need, not only what they ask for.
Translating business needs into concrete solutions
From a wish to something a team can get started with.
Drafting requirements and functional designs
Clearly documented what needs to be built, without thick documents.
Stakeholder management and workshops
Everyone at the table, with differing interests. I make sure the conversation moves toward a decision.
Support during implementations and change
From tender to migration: I stay involved until it works in practice.
How I approach it
Listening and investigating
I talk to users, management and IT. I want to know how the work really goes and where it gets stuck.
Creating an overview
I lay wishes, processes and interests side by side. That makes visible what is really needed and what can wait.
Translating into something that works
Requirements, user stories or a functional design. Clear enough to build from, short enough to read.
From practice
HAN, eHRM
No documented processes and often no owner. I described all processes, designed the desired situation and put together a team of six. In half a year we optimized 140 processes.
Provincie Gelderland
Water quality inspectors needed a system, but the specifications were unclear. Through the product owner and conversations with the inspectors it became clear. Both projects (BKS and Besluiten 2.0) went into production and were well received.
I very much enjoyed working with Nanda. Thanks to her open attitude she quickly builds connections and involves the right people in the organization. She quickly masters the subject matter and delivers clear and useful results.

If the work itself needs to become simpler and smarter.
